What it does

Y-TEC Browser Capsule combines multiple Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Firefox profiles into one encrypted backup for transfer to another Windows PC. The encrypted backup and recovery key are separate files, with careful review and rollback preparation before restore.

Version 1.2.1 moves the project to the Apache License 2.0. It includes Japanese and English interfaces and illustrated PDF manuals; choose System default, Japanese, or English in Settings, then restart the app to use one language consistently.

It never bypasses browser protection to extract saved passwords. Instead, it guides you to each browser’s official CSV export and import interface.

Getting started

Extract the ZIP, launch the app, and select the browsers and profiles to back up. Store the encrypted backup and recovery key separately. On the destination PC, review profile mappings and the rollback plan before restoring.

Data and safety

Backups use AES-256-GCM encryption and are checked for tampering or damage before restore. The app does not decrypt browser password databases or log cookies, sessions, or saved-password secrets. It has no network communication, cloud sync, authentication, analytics, or automatic updates.

Every backup gets a newly generated 256-bit recovery key. The encrypted .bvb and secret .ybckey are separate files; there is no fixed key or shared master key embedded in source or release files. Never post a recovery key in email, chat, an issue, or a public share, and store it separately from the backup whenever possible.

This program will not transfer any information to other networked systems unless specifically requested by the user or the person installing or operating it.

About this build

On September 29, 2026, the current 1.2.1 source was republished as a fresh public snapshot and the distribution was newly built. A safety fix rejects browser credential files from restoration. Core features, encryption and storage formats, and the Apache License 2.0 terms are unchanged. Both PDF manuals include contact and public URLs, with 13 pages and four screenshots per language.

Y-TEC EXE and DLL self-signatures and timestamps have been verified. This is not a commercial CA-trusted or SignPath signature, so the release is offered as a Preview and SmartScreen or similar warnings may still appear. No certificate is installed automatically.

The ZIP SHA-256 is 42fe14319911e913ea40e60951d5ad38658817e6cca63f0366941f32852f8398. Download the SHA-256 list, ZIP hash, and public certificate. The Japanese PDF is also available separately. The GitHub Release contains the same files.

There is no Microsoft Store release. Updates are manual downloads from Forge or GitHub. This republication passed 130 automated tests using synthetic data; the full Windows 10, clean-VM, official browser CSV, and assistive-technology manual tests were not rerun.
